Solar incentives: solar rebates and solar tax credits

Today, solar incentives cover up to 40% of the total cost of a residential solar system.

The Federal Government currently offers a tax credit that gives you back 30% of the cost of your residential solar system.

In addition, the California state government – through the California Solar Initiative (CSI) – is offering significant cash rebates to reduce the cost of solar by another 10%. The CSI rebate is scheduled to decrease over time, so the sooner you decide to go solar, the more money you’ll get back.

To make going solar easy and affordable, Sungevity will subsidize the CSI rebate portion of the system for you.  This means that with Sungevity, you pay the lower cost of the system calculated after the rebate. We take care of processing all the paperwork for you, to make sure you get all of the savings without the hassle.

Municipal solar programs

Many cities in California have information sessions to help their residents get ahead of the curve when it comes to renewable energy sources like solar. A few cities even have additional incentives on top of the 45% you’ll get from the federal government and state. GoSolarSF in San Francisco, Berkeley First in Berkeley, and Solar Cities in Livermore and Pleasanton are a few examples of city solar programs.
